The bit rate font is really huge and over laps part of the screen when pressing the select button during a video. Its the actual display menu that is screwed up. I can not fast forward, change the audio option, etc. This only appears to be problem when streaming using ps3 media server. Menu works fine using a normal DVD, is anyone having simialr problems? Is this something that can be fixed?

When I format the hdd systeminfo says the hdd size is 698 GB, but only 620 GB is avalible, how can it be?

Running into some problems..

I have a console which was on 3.55 Kmeaw and I wanted to update to Rebug 4.21. These are the steps which I went through.

>Backed up everything using memdump
>Enabled Toggle_QA (Also checked to make sure it was working; it was) via Rebug Toolbox
>Installed Rebug using the PS3UPDAT.PUP through System Recovery Menu (to be safe) via External HD

Everything seemed to go smoothly, I ran the toolbox and spoofed to 4.31 so I could access PSN. All is going smoothly so far.

(this is where things go a little pear shaped)

I downloaded the BASE version of multiMAN version 04.10.00 because obviously the version of multiMAN I was using on 3.55 wasn't going to work. So anyway downloaded and installed it and then I went to test out a game (to be specific InFamous 2). After I selected the game in multiMAN and it said "verifying files" and than it black screened on me and my PS3 crashed. Tested another game and it was the same story. It seemed all the games I was trying to run were all ending up with black screens.

Soon after not getting any other games to work multiMAN started crashing and freezing and just not responding at all. I turned my PS3 off and back on and my PS3 XMB had everything completely disappear my Save files, my CFW features.. the XMB just looked totally plain, and after navigating around the XMB crashed. So i turned my PS3 off and back on and it said it needed to "Restore my system". After that it was back to looking normal, all the features and my saves etc. had returned.

So I started to think I had a dodge version of multiMAN, I'm now downloading the FULL and not the BASE.

However while I wait for it to finish downloading I tried to play and original game I have on CD and it was working fine until I pressed the PS button on my controller and the XMB froze again.

What would be the best approach from here? Is it safe to try and reinstall Rebug again? Did it install wrongly?

I'm having a bit of an issue attempting to convert my NOR CEX flash to DEX using c2d.

It throws out the following error:

ERROR: Cannot open [eid_root_key.bin]

ERROR: Cannot open [eid_root_key.bin]
Wrong format of EID key file: 48 bytes or 256KB expected, but -1 found!

The key was dumped using eEID_RKDumper by flatz from http://ps3scenefiles.com/file.php?id=902

I've looked around but couldn't find anyone else reporting the same problem with error code -1.

Now people say that you can only downgrade from 4.20. is this true?

others said you can downgrade from any firmware (4.30/4.31) is this true?

and i was thinking of getting it around the time my summer holidays starts so that's in about a months time.

So if Sony were to release a few updates by then like 4.35 or 4.40 Will i still be able to downgrade? (to 3.55?)

Rogero has released an update to his 4.30 CFW. This one incorporates some much needed fixes inclduing the corrupted data bug, cinavia disabled and much more....

- The PS3~dev_blind.zip fix is now Pre-patched in the PUP itself.
- Fixed the bug of "Corrupted Data" on installation from Recovery encountered by

some users.
- Added the Cinavia Disabled files into the PUP.
- Updated multiMAN to the latest 04.10.00 build in the package.
- Added the new simple to install PlayStation home fix to the package too.
- Compatibility problem with some PS3 models is now fully fixed.
- XMB Icons problem from in-game PS button is now fixed.
- PSN/SEN access is available as long as the current "passphrase" still the same.
- Loading games from App_home Icon is now fixed.
- noBD and noBT patches are applied to allow installation on consoles with broken BR drive or Bluetooth controller.
- It was tested by hundreds of testers on all PS3 models (FAT & Slim) and no problems were encountered.
- It can run games signed with Keys up to version 4.30 without any Eboot/Sprx patching needed
- Games can be loaded from Disc Icon (with Original game in BD) and from app_home (Disc-less, but not all games).
- Current 3.55 homebrew applications can't be loaded on this CFW, applications must be re-signed properly for FW4.21/4.30

However after upgrading to 4.30 cfw it obviously doesn't boot anymore and need to be resigned. I used TrueAncestor EBOOT Resigner v1.12 to do the job. First I tried resigning the EBOOT.BIN from the hdd0/game/MRTC00003 folder using option 1 which ended up giving me a frozen black screen, then I tried option 2 which did the same thing. So I went and decrypted the original EBOOT from the disc, patched the cheats, and resigned again using the two options. Still giving me a frozen black screen. I'm stumped, and searching around doesn't really find a conclusive answer.

I went on last night without my idps spoofed never used any rebug firmware before so only just getting aquantied with the toolbox. I see the option to spoof idps and read in the rebug info it's for when u have been banned. I don't know much about the spoofer do u think it safer to enable it whilst online or does it spoof everyone's IDPS the same probably making it easier for sony to detect cfw users online?
