I want to downgrade-it back to 3.55 and then upgrade to Rogero CFW 4.30.
I've ordered a E3 NOR Flasher (the one WITHOUT a e-sata station).


Q1: Do I need an e-sata to sata cable to connect the hdd to the E3 panel ?


Q2: What should I do to keep my ps3 hdd contents ?
- I'm planning on using an alternative HDD to make the entire downgrade/upgrade process without loosing contents of my original hdd. Once I have Rogero CFW 4.30 running I plan to switch back my original ps3 hdd.
- Will this work?
- Or must I do a backup before starting and a restore in the end ?

From what it looks like, Dex seems to be an older form of cfw that was released? I know Rogero stays at the cutting edge of cfw, so I'm leaning towards his cfw for install.

Also, if I flash Rogero Cex4.30, can I later do a system recovery and restore my official 3.55 fw if needed?

Anyway, here's what I did. I grabbed the Rogero 4.30 full pack release, and then I saw the updated multiman 04.09.00 release. I figured, ok, I'll replace Rogero's 04.08.00 bundled multiman with the "multiMAN ver 04.09.00 FULL CEX (20121030).pkg" file. I'm going to use the full pkg of multiman since my existing MM is a fossil version lol. So, is this doable, or will I be on the verge of a brick?

Will any of the updating require formatting my hd? Also, I have a large 2.5 hd in my ps3, a 750gb drive, should I replace that with my official hd before I do everything, or will it matter? Don't want to lose, or transfer everything from my big hd to somewhere else prior to doing anything, it's such a pain lol.

Has there been any developments outside of the dongles that let you run bd-r discs? And a CECH 2501a Rogero 1.0 4.21CFW BRICK out of the brick which is ok without a previous dump as per Rogero's post

Also my PS3 is 4.25OFW CECH2002b - which i thought i might as well downgrade as they are paying for the flasher....

I have done a ton of research and triple check everything!

So does anyone know if i will encounter issues using the E3 on all 3 of them and im guessing ill need some thermal paste also.

If someone can spend 2 mins to also give me any tips or info --- the best guide they recommend.

however when i try to enter fsm mode all i get is connect controller screen, im using a minimus v1 with ps grade at90usb162.hex, but everytime i power and eject i get both green and red light then after a few seconds the red switches off and is replaced by the blue led, but ps3 doesnt power down.

I recently downgraded my PS3 from 3.55 to 3.41 to restore an old backup I had made, in order to retrieve my lost act.dat. I used the QA flag downgrade method. Upon downgrading/intalling OFW 3.41v2, I decided I was going to restore the system to start fresh.

I proceed to restore my system and then upon completion, I restore my trusty old 3.41 backup. After everything is said and done I decided to try the button combo just for kicks, lo and behold, "Edy Viewer, *Debug Settings, and *Install Package Files." I figured it would have failed since I just got done reformatting my entire system and I had never QA flagged my system when I made that old backup. Again, I have not read of this happening and I don't know if this can be considered anything informative. It was just surprising since my knowledge of a format, means, the system gets reset to factory settings. If i come off uninformed and this has in fact already been a well known "thing," forgive my ignorance and waste of a thread.

I have a small question about a small issue.
Yesterday I put my PS3 in Service mode because I had to De-hash it.
On my last step when I used the Lv2diag.self (2) to exit, the PS3 started shortly and afterwards it shuts down and no signal to the TV.
I found a Video on the Net with the same issues.
