Plug and Play, old accessories from your PS3 will work on your PS4
Sony has confirmed that their new PlayStation 4 console will handle your old PlayStation 3 wireless headsets, so no need to buy new headsets if you are happy with your old ones!
Sony has confirmed that your old wireless headsets will work when you upgrade to the new shiny PlayStation 4 later on this Holiday season, in contrast Microsoft will be forcing you to use the Kinect for chat, and have confirmed in the near future they will release an adapter to use your old wired headsets, but no word yet on their plans for wireless support, as new DRM on headset connector is forcing third-parties to get another license from Microsoft to produce one compatible with their Xbox One.
According to Polygon, a Sony rep confirmed the news at the San Diego Comic-Con.
While the PS4 will still ship with a wired earbud headset, what you get in the box is quite a simple mono device.
In contrast, Microsoft won't be including a headset with the Xbox One, though this is largely because you can use the compulsory Kinect to chat instead.
As it currently stands, wired Xbox 360 headsets wont work with the Xbox One due to different ports on the new controllers, though the company has confirmed an adapter may become available in future.
