The data on your PS3 HDD is useless as the HDD is encrypted and can only be used with the PS3 that you formatted your HDD with, and to put it simply, your data is gone, unless you can fix your PS3 via a reball/reflow.

You'll need to either fix your phat ps3 if you want your data. It's encrypted, so if you put it ion anything else, it won't be able to read it and will be asked to format.

But if i want only change the internal hard disk, and use the 500gb on new slim?
i can with a modded slim?
    Eplain
i buy ps3 slim with 320gb hd with a lot of games in there.
I make a backup of this hd.
After that i will substitute the 320 with the old 500gb(i don't want save data, only put the bigger hard disk)
ps3 ask me to format if? the mod have a problem if i format hard disk?
after that i can put my backup in the new hd?

That'll work. But you'll have to format the 500gb drive first, but you said you only want the space. So after you format, go to the restore utility to restore.

Supposedly data can now be recovered through windows, I didn't test it though.

I haven't read much on that, but wouldn't that only read/write encrpyted? If so, it wouldn't work since it'll use a different key.

Edit: Just read it. It uses your EID root key which would decrypt.
