Xbox One to appear before Playstation 4

Jul 27, 2013 - 1:11 PM - by GaryOPA
Toys R Us claims XB1 launches two weeks before PS4

The Xbox One release date has been pegged as November 29 and will precede the PS4 release date by two weeks, a leading retailer has suggested

Toys R Us, a leading major retailer in the USA is claiming that the Xbox One console will launch on Nov. 29th, but the PlayStation 4 will not appear until Dec. 13th, which will give Microsoft a two week lead on the massive 2013 holiday season and being available on biggest shopping day for year in the USA on Black Friday might give it the overall lead it needs to be ahead in the next-gen console war this year.

While Sony and Microsoft have to date remained relatively tight-lipped on the launch dates of their respective consoles, retail giant Toys R Us has claimed that the Xbox One will land before the PS4. Listing the Xbox One release date as November 29, the retailer has pegged the PS4 release date as December 13, less than two weeks before Christmas.

Although far from official, the claimed dates suggest not only how close to each other the two consoles will launch, but indeed that the more expensive Xbox One will get the jump on its high-profile rival. At present Microsoft has said the Xbox One will land in ‘November' while Sony has tipped the PS4 arrival as during the ‘2013 holiday season'.

The November 29 Xbox One release date fits with claims that the console will hit the US in line with Black Friday, one of the State's biggest annual shopping dates.

Where a number of retailers have listed their Xbox One pre-orders alongside a speculative placeholder date, Toys R Us sounds relatively confident in its Xbox One release date prediction. On its Xbox One page it simple says the console will "be released 29 November 2013." PS4 pre-orders are also available.
Of course this is all 'rumor' until the actual companies officially announce a 'release date' for their consoles, and analysts claim we will know the truth come late August during the press conferences at this year's Gamescom in Germany, where Sony has already announced they are going to do a more in-depth coverage for games on the PS Vita platform along with more details on their new PlayStation 4.

The CronusMAX is Here !

Jul 27, 2013 - 12:26 PM - by GaryOPA
Team-Xecuter has greatly improved the Cronus device with a bunch of mod packs!

TX got a bunch of the Cronus-X devices from a retailer and have reprogrammed them with their own custom firmware to make them MUCH more powerful than the standard (and more expensive) retail version!

Team-Xecuter has return from a break in releasing new devices, and with some great news, they have reprogrammed the retail Cronus-X devices with an custom firmware and are offering up a ton of modpacks for it, making it now the CronusMAX and it will be available alot cheaper then retail version, and offers alot more features, here is the details on how it all works for both X360 and PS3:

Cross-over Gaming

The CronusMAX is the first ever cross-compatibility gaming add-on ever created for video game industry. Simply put, it allows you to use your favorite gaming controller on virtually any console you want. Love your Xbox 360 controller but have to use Playstation 3 at your buddy's house? Not a problem. Just plug in the CronusMAX, sync your controller, and you are ready to go. No setup. No hassle. Just play!

Our unique device opens up a whole new world of gaming for you. Gone are the days when you are restricted to using uncomfortable controllers because of the system you are playing on.

Features include:

  • Works on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and any Windows-based PC
  • You can even use a Wii controller on your Xbox 360 or PS3.
  • Lag-free. Instant response every time
  • No installation necessary. Simply plug-and-play.

Precision Mouse & Keyboard Control

There are many "mouse and keyboard" console adapters on the market today, so, what makes CronusMAX so different? The answer is simple: precision. Making a high precision device (like a mouse) work well in a game that was designed for controller thumbsticks is a very hard problem. All console shooters have different levels of "aim-assist" that makes them playable using a controller. If done incorrectly, adapting a mouse to these games will result in aiming that feels jerky, unresponsive, and detached. CronusMAX takes this mouse tracking information to the next level using it's unique "MAXaim" technology.

Through MAXaim, CronusMAX is able to provide unparalleled mouse precision unachievable by any other gaming adapter available. The problem is simple: when the mouse moves, equivalent reticle movement on the screen should occur (i.e. 1-to-1 movement). This is the obvious result that all PC-gamers expect. But, before the creation of MAXaim was not possible on consoles. Every console shooter has its own unique aiming system that governs how the game controls and feels to the gamer. Every game is different as they all have different stick dead-zones and geometries, variable sensitivity and acceleration regions, asymmetric sensitivity, non-linear movement, and more. Be cautious of any console mouse adapter that claims "PC-feel" without talking about how it solves all these challenges.

CronusMAX's simplicity and flexibility is also second-to-none. It's philosophy is to empower the gamer without bombarding them with unneeded complexity. It's quick and easy to set up your preferred gaming environment. Even more, it will actually give you real-time feedback to help you find your optimal settings. For the most hard core gamer, CronusMAX offers an insane amount of capabilities, without any kind of soldering or extra hardware to install to the controller - it's the first truly ultimate all-in-one wireless controller modding device.

CronusMAX enables a gamer to choose input devices that suits them best whether at a desk or on a couch in the living room. Mix and match different devices for your optimal playing style.

Features Include:

  • Next-generation console input adapter
  • Game on your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 using your favorite PC gaming-grade hardware
  • Supports both desktop and living room gaming styles
  • Unsurpassed in-game 1-to-1 feel thanks to advanced MAXaim technology
  • Simple configuration
  • Real-time feedback to guide you to your optimal settings
  • Bonus Feature: Ability to remap PC grade Joypads and gamepads !
  • Note: A Windows-PC is required while using the keyboard & mouse together

Fully Modded Controller

The CronusMAX really is the ultimate solution to all of your controller modding needs. It allows you to implement powerful mod capabilities to your controller WITHOUT the need to add additional chips or wires to the hardware. This means it will work with your controller RIGHT NOW giving you a fully modded controller with no installation necessary. There is absolutely no need to make changes or modifications to your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 controller - this has never been done before. This innovative new technology isn't available anywhere else on the market. With a full selection of mods at your fingertips, CronusMAX is perfect for the gamer looking to add an extra edge to their game.

Features include:

  • Wireless state of the art modification technology
  • Millions of mod configurations - No Combo Limit !
  • No lag time (tested to 1.2 milliseconds)
  • No chips, wires, or other hardware installation required
  • No soldering or opening the controller - Plug and Play !
  • Fully loaded with ALL major mod packs
  • Support for all console games (i.e. COD series, Battlefield Series, Mortal Kombat, Madden, FIFA, GTA, Tiger Woods and many more!)
  • Stores memory for up to 9 of your favorite games. Button on the CronusMAX allows you to switch between game slots
  • 100% undetectable online
  • Custom software for mapping the controllers buttons
  • Complete button layout configuration
  • User friendly menu system using controller LEDs
  • Works with both Xbox 360 and PS3
  • Does NOT void controller warranty
  • Bluetooth dongle required (Sold Separately)

The CronusMAX has 12 different mod class with up to 53 selectable mods allowing for millions of mod combinations giving you a fully modded controller with no installation necessary. You can choose and combine one mod from each class for a total of 12 active mods at the SAME TIME. This means you can make combinations such a burst fire added to rapidfire resulting in an exclusive "automatic burstfire" mode. This mode can be optimized by adjusting the number of bullets fired per burst as well as the time between bursts. For additional optimization, you can add the "scope enable" mod which will allow your "automatic burstfire" to be activated only when the ADS scope is in use.

CronusMAX also allows you to use your controller on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. When you purchase CronusX it's like having two devices in one!

PLEASE NOTE: These are only examples. You do NOT have to use the combinations in this manner. You can experiment and use whatever combinations suit your playing style best. The possibilities are endless. And with the exclusive "press sensitivity" feature, you can assign two different mods to one single button!

PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to use your Xbox 360 controller wirelessly on your PS3 you will need to purchase the Microsoft Wireless Receiver. Without it, you can only use a wired Xbox 360 controller with the PS3. An Xbox 360 wired controller is also required for the initial setup on an Xbox 360. Also, due to how the CronusMAX communicates with the controller, the headset port is used so you will not be able to use headsets that plug into the controller itself. So, any headset that can connect directly to the console either wired or wireless can work as long as it does not plug in to the CronusMAX, or controller being supported by the CronusMAX at that current time.

PS4 only allows 4.5gb RAM and 6 Cores for Game OS

Jul 26, 2013 - 2:59 PM - by GaryOPA
The other 2 Cores and 3.5gb of RAM is for System OS

Breaking news, the Sony OS is HUGE and eats up a big chunk of that 8gigs of RAM along with 2 cores on the CPU, allowing only a max. of 4.5gb of RAM for Games, with another 1gig that is flexible memory

As the news broke today that Sony System OS is huge, eating up a ton of resources and large chunk of RAM, just like the XBOX ONE is rumored to be doing, we hear reports on the grapevine that thousands and thousands of Sony fanboys have cancelled their PS4 pre-orders over this very sad news item, that even tho the PlayStation 4 will be shipping with 8gigs of RAM, only 4.5gigs will be Game Usage, the rest is for all that 'sharing', 'social', 'psn', and other features, and that is also going to eat up 2 of your 8 cores leaving only 6 cores for game developers to use to power their next-gen video games.

Sony's internal docs say that 4.5GB is the baseline amount of guaranteed memory available for game-makers (note the memory usage of the Killzone: Shadow Fall demo) and most likely what the lion's share of launch titles will be using. However, other sources close to Sony indicate that developers can request up to an additional gigabyte of "flexible memory", and use it to boost elements of the game - but only if the background OS can spare it. We're told that incorporating this isn't trivial, and it may well be that to begin with only first-party developers target its usage.

Current PlayStation 4 dev kits have a "Game Memory Budget Mode" in the debug settings featuring two options: normal and large. The normal mode setting confirms that 4.5GB of memory is usable for game applications. The large mode increases this considerably to 5.25GB, but the docs are clear that the extra RAM here is only available for application development, presumably in order to house debugging data. From what we understand, the extra gig of flexible memory appears to work in addition to these allowances.

The news that the PS4's OS reservation is in the same ballpark as Xbox One's equivalent 3GB allocation is sure to surprise many, especially bearing in mind that previously leaked Sony docs have only spoken of a 512MB allocation for the system software - though this information hails from the era where the new PlayStation was slated to ship with only 4GB of memory.
So is this shocking news going to change your mind on what next-gen system to buy?

So how much does it cost to develop for PlayStation 4?

Jul 25, 2013 - 4:49 PM - by GaryOPA
Microsoft has swung open the gates to indie developers by making the Xbox One a development kit in its own right!

But how much does it cost to start creating indie games for Sony's PlayStation 4?

Earlier today we reported on the big news that Microsoft plans to release info at Gamescom that all Xbox One systems can be development kits and they going to open the flood gates to allow indie's to self-publish, but now PolyGon is reporting on how Sony is supporting the indie developments, infact instead of charging them $2,500 upfront for an official devkit, they are 'loaning' them out like candy for you to play with for an year to get you game rolling along so you can publish it maybe before even paying a dime to Sony!

Polygon spoke to various development sources who say that the PlayStation 4 dev kit costs about $2,500, which is $2,000 more than an Xbox One. Indie Xbox One developers will also pay a fee to Microsoft, which a source said is a few hundred dollars. Microsoft declined to talk publicly about the fee.Although this $2,500 price is being cited in development circles, the game-makers we spoke to all said that Sony had lent them dev kits for a limited period of one year, for free.

As of right now, there are no dev kits being sold. Sony is sending whatever it has available to favored developers. "All the indies I know got them for free," said one developer. "Sony has been amazing about kits and development thus far."

Another developer said that Sony is focused on loaners, rather than collecting fees. "They are handing them out like candy," he said.

"Self-publishing has been available on PlayStation platforms for over five years, so it's nothing new," said a spokesperson for Sony. "The process of devs bringing their games to market has continued to evolve, and PlayStation has led the charge in adapting and embracing new publishing rules to allow for more creative freedom for developers."

The spokesperson pointed toward Sony's loaner dev kit program, as well as other support mechanisms. "With self-publishing, we keep things really flexible for developers and give them lots of options, including funding through the Pub Fund, which is back-end funding paid upon completion of the game, we waive patch fees for indies and all digital titles and we embrace new business models like F2P, episodic and subscriptions. We've had more than 500 games self-published on PSN."
So it seems Sony support system is welcome and more kind to Microsoft, even with their news that 'every Xbox can be development machine', most likely it will be very limited and controlled, with some reporting it will be limited to 3gigs and Windows Store Apps only, but until they release more info at Gamescom we really don't know what system will end up being more better for indie game devs.
